Hundreds turn out for Lyons Township Democratic Party candidate breakfast
The Lyons Township Democratic Organization hosted a voter breakfast on Saturday March 3, 2018 to showcase candidates endorsed by the Democratic Party of Illinois in the upcoming primary election.
Democrats will choose their representative candidates for offices spanning state, county, township and legislative offices in the March 20, 2018 Democratic Primary election.
Dozens of candidates endorsed by the Democratic Party came out to speak to voters. Nearly 500 people packed the Capri Banquet Hall at 6250 S. Joliet Road in Countryside for the pre-election event.
“We’re proud t have so many of you here today to show support for the candidates running to represent the Democratic Party,” said Steven Landek, the Lyons Township Democratic Committeeman, State Senator and Bridgeview Mayor.
Landek applauded the attendees and introduced many of the dignitaries who came from throughout the state and Cook County to meet voters and share their campaign literature.
Among the candidates attending were Kawme Raoul, candidate for Illinois Attorney General; Dan Lipinski, candidate for U.S. Congress in the 3rd District; a spokesman, Al Ronan, who represented gubernatorial candidate J.B. Pritzker, Bridget Fitzgerald who is running for the 41st Illinois State Senate District, State Treasurer Mike Frerichs, Maria Pappas who is seeking re-election for Cook County Treasurer, and several candidates for judge including Martin Reggi, Caroline Golden, and Debra Shore, one of three Democrats running for Water Reclamation District including Kerri Steele, Martin Durkin and Kimberly Dubuclet.
Speakers introducing guests and addressing the audience included Lyons Mayor Christopher Getty, Mike Porfirio and Cook County Commissioner Jeff Tobolski.
